Crete has 15 official camp sites all across the island. Almost all are near the waterfront and provide secured places to stay. Usually you’ll find shadow places to park the camper, under the trees or under special ‘porches’ with tent cloth.
The camp sites are all small scaled, so don’t expect fancy sites with hundreds of pitches. Some even have very limited place like Chania and Hersonissos. Not all camp sites have easy accessible pitches, so beware of the trees. It’s not really necessary to make reservation but in high season it’s better to call them a day up front.
Besides sanitary facilities, most offer laundry facility too and have a mini market. Some are located directly next to the beach, others have a restaurant, Wi-Fi or even a pool. At all camp sites you can take fresh water and empty your grey water reservoir and toilette cassette. The camp sites do supply electricity (220v) but you might not really need it. They charge you extra for this service.
